We love the "Operating System Personal Customization". This is a rule to us, always to remove that horrible appearance from all Microsfot Windows applications and replace it with something creative, new, and different. The MacOS ever will be a good inspiration to us because its system is projected by designers to designers. We believe that the ICONS are the very most important connection between the users and their operational system (sorry shell command line guys), bringing an comfortably and intuitive environment for work development, internet browsing and fun.
How everything has begun
We will ever remember that misty morning of winter, many time ago, when a guy from the other side of the building here at university where we work came suddenly to our room carrying some papers in his hand. With his eyes wide open and a severe voice echoing on the corridor he said - "Guys, tomorrow I will have a presentation of our new Database System to some customers and I want to use at this time something visual instead of only words. What about some icons?" That word stroke us as heavy battle axe against a goblin's head - oh God - we always loved the icon art but never thought to built our own!
Well, this was enough to start a fever, a giant snowball have started to run down the hill... er.. maybe a giant pixelball. :)
In the next days some new personal icons were developed. We were yet trying to find our own style to put mixi it in the pixels. The results were interesting.
But the "Giant Steps" came next with the creation of the first impact icon in our collection - David Crosby, member of the great music band called Crosby, Stills and Nash, in his full youth, spreading the fantastic 60's mood. There were also some failures like the two first Jimi Hendrix versions and the big eyebrows Merlin.
After it all the icon creation became an daily habit resulting in a always crescent number of collections. It is a pleasure to put avaliable for download here all our work - just for you, a pixel lover too. Almost all of the site's drawings were made with Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Pink Floyd songs playing in the background.
Historical Facts
The very first idea that we have got was from our friend "Oggh" on a saturday afternoon sitted down on a sofa in Akira's house - "Why you do not make a single screen showing a little shop located in a humble town street, where the visitor were able to pick up anything from the icon collection?".
From this first rough we had a new and interesting idea that shown a very busy town street with a close vision in a large scale than before, with space to show more datails on the picture.
But something was not good, the perspective and the scale used were bringing an exaggerated size to the scenary. New brainstorms were made and after two barrels of wine we got a junction of streets, A CORNER!
We decided to put all icon collections into different shops located on the corners of the town square. As soon as we have time to create new shops and new squares it will be possible to navigate, not only spinning around but also crossing the streets... But this is other story to be told in the future.
